De-3Difier Glasses. Make any sense to you?

De-3Difier
So you hate 3D but your kids love it. Everyone wants to see this new movie, I don't know, let's say Rio 3D! All right! So you sit down everyone breaks out these glasses and oh so smoovely (yes, with the "V") you whip out your glasses. Except these glasses aren't like theirs. They actually reverse the 3D effect allowing you to watch without the 3D sensation. Make sense? Why? You know most people that tell me they don't like 3D is because they don't want to wear glasses to watch a movie. Personally, the fact that I am wearing glasses comes second to the visual benefit so it's not a big deal to me.

If by chance you would like to convert your 3D content to 2D via modification of your glasses I'm sure there are some awesome nerds out there that have tutorials somewhere in google world. Otherwise if you think this as just as interesting as it is silly to me just watch a little boring video of it here:

Robotics - The Next Revolution

So I am ready to come home and say "What's my current electric bill balance?"
And then get a response. "You have a current balance of $138.56. Would you like to pay this Kirk?"
I respond "Yes."
I have been making commands like this all while eating a quick sandwhich in the kitchen. This smart and even sometimes suprisingly snazzy and uplifting device I am interacting with is a robot. I've named him Elijah. I am amazed that I am paying a bill, without holding a phone. Without going to a laptop or computer and definitely not driving to some location. Meanwhile...
"Transaction completed sir. Your next bill will be due on May 17." Then continues to say "I do have new notifications. Would you like for me to share them with you now"?
"No, may you turn on the tv in Kirk's room. Tune to channel 291. Thank you."
"You are welcome sir. I just recieved a status from your mother and she attaches an image. Would you like to review now?"
Excitedly, "Yes, of course!"
I then get a message from my mom with a picture of her shaking hands with who looks to be a famous actor. "Respond with voice message." I command. "How funny mom, I met Robin Williams last year at the same place." "Attach image. Open my images. Search Robin. Select Pic two. Send."

I could keep going but you probably get my drift...
So what are we waiting for?

Anyone know what happened to Microsoft and their whole Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio?

The Next Big Thing?

Next Big Thing
The Next Big Thing

So I have been thinking, over the past few years communications has been the center of "The Next Big Things" in technology. Devices at our fingertips; information anywhere and interfaces that interact with our gestures and become smarter as we use them. My father always challenged me to think of the next big thing. These are the things that significantly change the way we all do things. He encouraged me to think past what we have today and the advancement of these things. For instance at the time of me writing this there may not be a such device as a television that analyzes your gestures, detects the number of people in a room, pops popcorn, despenses candy and automatically shuts off when everyone leaves the room but this device, as unique as it may be is only a compilation of several different technologies and this compilation does not necessarily significantly improve our lives.

That being said, what do you think the next big thing is? Can you look past the everyday things? If you want to change communication, how do you really do it? I'm not talking about a feature release or a new design. I'm talking about encouraging people to think beyond their wildest dreams. The kind of ideas that make people think you're crazy.

I plan to start an organization centered around this concept. Hopefully our ideas will influence big business one day. Make sure you register to www.thebigpixelinteractive.com to be notified whenever the new site is put together.

Fallen Art

Ok, I thought this was the craziest animated short I have seen in a while. I won't tell you much about it because like most good shorts, you just have to see. So check it out and don't get any twisted ideas!
